Windows diagnostic tools
No one likes a laggy system not to talk of frequent system crashes, blue screen, system freeze etc. Surprisingly, the solutions to most of these problems are right there at your finger tips. Knowledge, they say it's power.
There are various inbuilt windows diagnostic software tools to check these hardware issues, you can as well try them out straightaway as you read through.

Diagnostic Tools To Check For RAM Errors:

In any case of a laggy system or system freezing, the problem is often associated to your machine's RAM chip. There is an inbuilt windows diagnostic tool to check and repair it if possible.
Here's how to start the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool:

Steps

  1. Open RUN  either by searching for it through from your start menu or by pressing WIN+R .
  2. Type mdsched.exe and press Enter.

You'll be prompted to restart your computer and run a diagnostic test, just click yes. And wait for the tool to do its thing.

Computers Diagnostic Tools For Hard Disk Drive:

Mechanical failures account for about 60% of all drive failures. While the eventual failure may be catastrophic, most mechanical failures result from gradual wear and there are usually certain indications that failure is imminent. These may include increased heat output, increased noise level, problems with reading and writing of data, or an increase in the number of damaged disk sectors. So how do you check your hard disk drive's health? Perhaps I could rephrase the question as "How S.M.A.R.T. is your hard disk drive?"

S.M.A.R.T. (Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology) is a monitoring system included in computer hard disk drives (HDDs) that detects and reports on various indicators of drive reliability, with the intent of enabling the anticipation of hardware failures.

When S.M.A.R.T. data indicates a possible imminent drive failure, software running on the host system may notify the user so stored data can be copied to another storage device, preventing data loss, and the failing drive can be replaced.
Here's how to check your HDD Health before it's too late;

STEPS:

  1. Open RUN  either by searching for it through from your start menu or by pressing WIN+R .
  2. Type CMD, select Command prompt then;
  3. Type wmic and press the Enter key.
  4. Type diskdrive get status and press the Enter key again.

The S.M.A.R.T information of your HDD will be displayed, now pay close attention to check if there is an error. If there is no error, no problem then, but if there are errors, there's no need to be afraid to the extent of shutting down your system, just calmly create a back up of your important files in another storage device just in case the HDD doesn't fix this error by itself and create a system image of your Windows which will allow you restore if a hard drive failure occurs.
