How To flash a custom recovery without a PC

With a custom recovery there's a lot you can do with your phone, such as flashing a custom rom, an alien keyboard (Samsung keyboard on LG device), or even some high quality scripts and apps like xposed installer. In the past, people relied on computers to help them flash a custom recovery with the aid of adb and fastboot. But times have changed, you can now flash any custom recovery (philz, CWM, TWRP etc) with your phone. It is quite easy with less stress and risk. It is important to know that you have to root your phone before attempting to flash a custom recovery without a PC, this is the only advantage flashing a custom recovery through a PC has over flashing one with your phone.

However, it's still saver and easier to flash files and custom recovery with your phone. It's not like you always move about with your PC.

PROCEDURES

  1. Root your device with kingroot or any other method known to you.
  2. Download the rashr flash tool from playstore. Flashify is equally a very good tool with similar procedures, perhaps much simpler, but it's not totally free, rightly so, these developers deserve to get paid for their apps.
  3. Run the app (rashr), it will request for root access, Grant it then move to step 4.
  4. In the app, click recovery from storage, then locate the custom recovery you want to flash wait for it to finish flashing then reboot to recovery to see your new custom recovery.

Now you can flash anything you want with your custom recovery, including superSu.

If you flash superSu through this process after rooting with kingroot, remember to uninstall the kinguser app so that the superSu will work properly.

Check out how to replace kinguser with supersu without flashing any file.

Cheers
